What is hope?

In today’s world, we are bombarded by images and stories that make it difficult to feel hopeful.  It seems that each day brings more and more bad news, and those who are exposed to it eventually feel like giving up.  When we find ourselves tossed about by the storms of life, we can feel that nothing is able to stop our ship from sinking and it becomes difficult to remain positive.  But what if you could have a hope that is beyond understanding?  A hope that is not dependent on the tides of this world but on something far more secure and lasting?

In Isaiah 49:23, God says, “Those who hope in me will not be disappointed.”  Life has ups and downs, but when your hope is established in God, you can have the strength to endure many hardships.  This is a hope that cannot be taken away by the obstacles, setbacks, and struggles of this world.

Each Sunday, we meet to celebrate the hope described in Titus 2:13:  the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ.”  Our hope is in Jesus Christ and His return.  It is not just a desire or an expectation.  It is a promise of God that we can trust will happen. It is solid, concrete evidence because it is founded in the Word of God, and we know that “it is impossible for God to lie” (Hebrews 6:18). This time spent focusing on God strengthens us so that we can face the many trials of life. We also enjoy the fellowship with others, encouraging each other and providing support through the everyday struggles that we each face.

If you’re feeling hopeless, we invite you to come and join us as we seek after God and help each other along the way.
